Bare-Bones Must Have

Sari Material
Fitted Blouse
Petticoat (cotton skirt with drawstring)
3-4 Medium/Large Safety Pins
Can-do Attitude (seriously, nobody is going anywhere without this)

How To:

Step 1 Wear the cotton skirt and blouse. Make sure the cotton skirt is tightly drawn since you will be tucking the material into the skirt. Starting with the plain end, make a few pleats and tuck the sari in on the right hand side of your belly button.
Step 2 Continue to tuck the edge of the sari into your petticoat. Do this for one full counterclockwise circle (from right to left) ending up at the right side of your belly button again. The decorative hem of the sari should be facing outwards and touching the floor.
Tip: If you are wearing heels be sure to put them on in advance, so the length of the sari will be well-adjusted.
Step 3 Grab the heavily decorated end of your sari material (the pallu) and circle it around your body once. Bring it back to the front and pleat the pallu. Place it over your left shoulder. The pallu can land at the back of the knee joint.
Tip: You can safety pin the pleats to your blouse so it sits pretty over your shoulder without falling apart.
Step 4 Cover the chest area with the material that is draped over your left shoulder. Make sure the decorative border is covering your bosom and tuck it in the back so it stays covered.
Step 5 Take the remaining material closest to your body and pick make 5-7 pleats (each around 5 inches) and fold them neatly. Tuck this portion into your petticoat slightly towards the left side of your belly button.
Take the material closest to your body and pick up an arm's length. Make 5-7 pleats (each around 5 inches) and fold them neatly. Tuck this portion into your petticoat on the left side of your belly button.
